Monjali, Remembering History Scramble Jogja

MONJALI or Yogya Kembali Monument which was built on June 29, 1985 is one of the icons in addition to the palace of Yogyakarta. Monjali North Ring Road is located in Yogyakarta, which is protruding in the Village, Village Sariharjo, choosed District, Sleman regency. Monjali now easily accessible by private vehicle or public transportation. Arriving at the site, you can simply spend money Rp7.500 to pay admission.

Monjali exhibit historical objects and people of Yogyakarta military struggle against the Dutch, particularly the guerrilla war to retake the city of Yogyakarta on March 1, 1949, led by Lt. Col. Soeharto and Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX. There are more than 1,000 collections of diorama that tells a general attack March 1, 1949.

Before entering into the monument, from a distance you will see a unique building that resembles a cone or mountain. Philosophy cone was used to construct this building because of the Javanese culture is believed as a symbol of fertility.

Cone-shaped monument is 31.8 meters tall and stands in an area of 5.6 hectares. Page monuments are often used as the venue for various events. Monjali has four entrances. East and west entrance door leading to the museum located on the first floor while the south and north entrance door leading to the second floor of the Guang Yu Book Store reliefs and dioramas. The third floor which is the top floor is a quiet space to meditate.

When laying the first stone made by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX June 29, was chosen as the initial development to commemorate the withdrawal of Dutch troops in Yogyakarta on June 29, 1949. Once completed, Monjali inaugurated by President Soeharto.

Entrance fee: Adult Rp.5000, Foreign Tourist Rp.7.500
Especially for groups (more than 30 people), the tariff cut of 10 percent. While the kindergarten child receives a discount rate of 50 percent per child.
